Shout is a text only crisis line which is open 24/7, on 85258.

You could also visit any of the 5 Safe Havens which are open in the evenings, at weekends and on bank holidays and managed by mental health professionals trained to help people in a crisis situation. The Safe Havens also offer virtual out of hours support and there are Safe Havens (CYP) specifically for children and young people.

 

How do I find out what help is available to support my mental health?

If you want to improve your mental wellbeing, or are feeling anxious or depressed or that life is too difficult, there are a range of free and confidential services available across Surrey to support you. You can find out more about them on Healthy Surrey.

 

In addition, Connect to Support Surrey is an online directory of services which has a section on mental health and the many factors that affect it. Every mind matters also provides self-help guidance, information, and advice about accessing mental health support.

 

There are a wealth of groups and organisations available. We’ve listed some below but do contact us for further information as not everything is covered here.

Samaritans can provide a listening ear if you are struggling with your mental health. They can also provide information for family, friends, and carers about supporting someone struggling with their mental health.

Mentell is a men’s mental health charity providing free online circles for men aged 18+ to talk in a safe and confidential space.

Beat provides information, advice, and support for those who have an eating disorder and their families and carers.

Talking Therapies Surrey is a free NHS service offering short-term psychological therapies for a range of common mental health problems. The service is for anyone aged 17+ who is experiencing anxiety or depression and is registered with a GP Practice in Surrey.

Advocacy services in Surrey – there are several advocacy services in Surrey that provide support.

What help is available for children and young people?

Mindworks is an emotional and mental health service for children and young people in Surrey. The mindworks website provides lots of information, signposting and advice for children, young people and their families.

Kooth is an online mental health and emotional wellbeing platform for children and young people aged 10-18.

Papyrus is a charity which is working to prevent suicide and promote positive mental health and wellbeing in young people.

Childline is a free, private and confidential service where children can talk about anything.

Emerge advocacy support people aged 10-25 in A&E.
