South East All-age Neurodiversity Programme – Gathering views

20th December 2024

What is the purpose of this survey?

NHS England – South East are gathering views and experiences from parents, carers, professionals, and children and young people awaiting an Autism and/or ADHD diagnostic assessment to help them understand your views and experiences of strength and needs led support.

What NHS England would like to know from participants?

  • The main reasons children and young people seek an autism or ADHD assessment
  • Understand the challenges faced during the assessment process and issues that may be experienced in accessing services
  • Understand the barriers to accessing ‘Strength and Needs’ led support for Children and Young People who may or may not have a confirmed diagnosis.

The phrase ‘Strength and Needs Led‘ is being used to describe services and support that fits with the individual strengths or needs of a child or young person regardless of them having a diagnosis or not, and not generic support or needs that are defined purely by the existence a confirmed diagnosis.
