Coming together to celebrate The International Day of Charity
Today we’re joining with others around the world to observe the International Day of Charity. Created by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2012, the day aims to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charitable activities on a global scale, and to inspire people and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to help others through volunteering and charitable activities.
Here at Healthwatch Surrey we are supported by a dedicated team of 40 volunteers who – between April 2023 and April 2024 – gave us 232 days of their time! Thanks to their efforts in the community we’re able to further understand what is working and what needs improving across health and social care.
We’re also proud to be the Portfolio lead for “Voice” in Surrey’s Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Alliance. We host VCSE Voice Group meetings with our voluntary sector colleagues across Surrey, creating more opportunities for the voices of all Surrey residents to be heard. As part of this, we are now creating 2 subgroups to discuss in more depth what we are hearing about neurodiversity and people’s experiences of the Accessible Information Standard.
You can read more about our volunteers and the VCSE Alliance in our latest annual report.
